Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless thick-cut pork chops (about 8 ounces each and ¾-inch thick)
- kosher salt and ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 teaspoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- ½ cup barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
- Pat the pork chops dry with a paper towel to ensure a good sear.
- Mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, chili powder, onion powder, and garlic powder in a small bowl.
- Rub this seasoning blend generously on both sides of the pork chops and season with kosher salt and black pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, then add the pork chops and brown for 3-5 minutes on each side.
- Transfer the browned pork chops to your prepared baking sheet and baste with half of the barbecue sauce on the tops and sides.
- Bake uncovered for 9-14 minutes, or until the chops reach an internal temperature of 145°F, basting with the remaining sauce halfway through. For a caramelized exterior, broil for the last 2-3 minutes.
- Allow the pork chops to rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can marinate the pork chops in the seasoning mix for a few hours before cooking.
Ensure the pork chops are at room temperature before cooking for even cooking.
Serve with your favorite side dishes such as coleslaw or cornbread.
