- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp chili garlic sauce
- 1/2 tsp sriracha
- 1 tbsp besti powdered monk fruit allulose blend
- 2/3 cup whey protein powder
- 1/3 cup wholesome yum blanched almond flour (or cornstarch)
- 2 tbsp wholesome yum coconut flour
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup sparkling water (cold)
- 1 lb medium shrimp (peeled and deveined)
- 3 cups avocado oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the bang bang sauce by whisking together mayonnaise, chili garlic sauce, sriracha, and Besti in a small bowl. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine whey protein powder, almond flour or cornstarch, coconut flour, sea salt, and black pepper.
- Incorporate the eggs and sparkling water into the dry mixture.
- Whisk everything until the batter is fully mixed.
- Heat avocado oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat for about 5 minutes until it reaches 350 degrees F.
- Coat the shrimp in the batter by dipping them in and letting excess drip off.
- Add the shrimp into the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2 minutes on each side.
- Remove the cooked shrimp with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining shrimp.
- Transfer the fried shrimp to a bowl and pour the bang bang sauce over them.
- Toss gently to coat the shrimp and serve immediately.
Notes
Ensure the avocado oil is hot enough before adding shrimp for a crispy texture.
Feel free to adjust the spice level of the bang bang sauce by modifying chili garlic sauce and sriracha amounts.
