Description

Brown Butter Dulce de Leche Rice Krispie Treats combine rich brown butter, sweet dulce de leche, and crunchy rice krispies for a delicious treat that is quick and easy to make. Perfect for anyone craving homemade desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 10 cups mini marshmallows, divided
  • 6 cups rice krispies cereal, cinnamon sugar flavored
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt, fine grain
  • ½ can dulce de leche

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×9-inch pan with non-stick spray and line it with foil or parchment paper, then spray again.
  2. Place a large pot on medium heat, add the butter and let it melt until browned.
  3. Remove the pot from heat, add salt and 8 cups of mini marshmallows, stirring until completely melted and smooth. If needed, return to heat briefly.
  4. Add vanilla extract and stir to combine.
  5. In a separate large bowl, measure the rice krispies cereal and pour the melted marshmallow mixture over it, mixing well.
  6. Add the remaining mini marshmallows while the mixture is still warm.
  7. Press half of the rice krispies mixture into the prepared pan, flattening it evenly, then spread dulce de leche on top.
  8. Top with the remaining rice krispies mixture, pressing lightly to spread evenly. Allow to cool at room temperature.

Notes

For browning butter, watch closely to avoid burning it.
Using cinnamon sugar flavored rice krispies adds an extra layer of flavor.
Allow the treats to set completely before cutting for best results.
