- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce (optional, use extra soy sauce if you don't have any on hand)
- 1½ tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ tablespoon fish sauce (optional but recommended)
- 1 lb broccoli florets (washed and sliced into pieces)
- 2 tablespoon water
- 2 tablespoon cooking oil (divided in two equal parts)
- ¼ teaspoon sesame oil (divided in two equal parts)
- 2 teaspoon garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon ginger (peeled and finely minced or grated)
- 1-2 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional, garnish)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with 3 tablespoon shaoxing wine, then add the sliced flank steak. Season with fresh cracked pepper if desired.
- Allow the beef to marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, combine 2 tablespoon oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon light brown sugar, 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce, 1½ tablespoon soy sauce, 1 tablespoon cornstarch, and ½ tablespoon fish sauce (if using). Set this mixture aside.
- Prepare the broccoli florets by microwaving them in a covered microwave-safe dish with 2 tablespoon water for 2-3 minutes on high power.
