Description

These homemade Yeast Rolls are irresistibly fluffy and flavorful. Perfect for a quick dinner or a comforting side, they require simple ingredients and minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water between 90-110°f but not too hot
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened, use salted butter
  • 1 large egg room temperature
  • 3 ¼ cups bread flour may substitute with all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons bread machine yeast
  • 2-3 tablespoons melted butter for brushing
  • kosher salt or flaky sea salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the first 7 ingredients in the bread machine as listed (see notes for alternative method).
  2. When adding, place the yeast near the sugar, avoiding salt contact.
  3. Begin the bread machine on the white, dough, large cycle (this is not the complete bread cycle).
  4. After the cycle ends, prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick spray.
  5. Take the dough from the bread pan and punch it down; divide into 16-24 equal portions.
  6. Pinch the bottoms of pieces to make small dough balls and place them upside down on the cookie sheet.
  7. Brush the dough balls with melted butter and sprinkle with kosher or flaky sea salt.
  8. Cover with a damp tea towel and let rise in a warm spot for 30-40 minutes until doubled in size.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375° F (190° C) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Once baked, optionally brush the tops with melted butter and add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.

Notes

For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh; using instant or bread machine yeast is recommended.
If you need to warm your egg, use a bowl of warm (not hot) water for 5-7 minutes to bring it to room temperature.
