Description
These homemade Yeast Rolls are irresistibly fluffy and flavorful. Perfect for a quick dinner or a comforting side, they require simple ingredients and minimal fuss.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup warm water between 90-110°f but not too hot
- 2 tablespoons butter softened, use salted butter
- 1 large egg room temperature
- 3 ¼ cups bread flour may substitute with all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons bread machine yeast
- 2-3 tablespoons melted butter for brushing
- kosher salt or flaky sea salt
Instructions
- Combine the first 7 ingredients in the bread machine as listed (see notes for alternative method).
- When adding, place the yeast near the sugar, avoiding salt contact.
- Begin the bread machine on the white, dough, large cycle (this is not the complete bread cycle).
- After the cycle ends, prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper or non-stick spray.
- Take the dough from the bread pan and punch it down; divide into 16-24 equal portions.
- Pinch the bottoms of pieces to make small dough balls and place them upside down on the cookie sheet.
- Brush the dough balls with melted butter and sprinkle with kosher or flaky sea salt.
- Cover with a damp tea towel and let rise in a warm spot for 30-40 minutes until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375° F (190° C) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once baked, optionally brush the tops with melted butter and add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
Notes
For best results, ensure your yeast is fresh; using instant or bread machine yeast is recommended.
If you need to warm your egg, use a bowl of warm (not hot) water for 5-7 minutes to bring it to room temperature.
