Description
This Instant Pot Black Beans dish is a must-try! With irresistible flavor and simple preparation using just a few key ingredients, it’s perfect for a quick dinner or a healthy, comforting meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound dry black beans
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups hot water
- 3 cups hot chicken broth (can substitute with more water)
- 1 onion quartered
Instructions
- Rinse and inspect the dried beans, discarding any damaged ones. Add the beans to the Instant Pot liner along with salt, broth, water, and onion if desired.
- Seal the pressure cooker lid and set it to high pressure for 30 minutes. After cooking, let it naturally release pressure for 20 minutes before performing a quick release.
- Carefully remove the pot liner and drain the beans in a colander. Rinse until the water is clear.
- Enjoy the beans on their own, use them in various recipes, or store them for later use in the fridge or freezer.
Notes
Preheating the water and broth helps the cooker reach pressure faster.
These beans can be served simply or used in a variety of dishes, similar to canned beans.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
