Description

This Slow Cooker Brown Sugar Ham offers a blend of sweet and citrus flavors, making it perfect for gatherings. Easy to prepare, it’s a delightful centerpiece for any meal, featuring smoked ham, brown sugar, and orange glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 fully cooked spiraled sliced boneless smoked ham
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 cups brown sugar packed
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 3 tablespoons grated orange peel from about 2 oranges
  • 12 ounces orange marmalade
  • 3 tablespoons molasses
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 orange slices


Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix all glaze ingredients, setting aside 1/2 cup for later.
  2. If ham is not pre-sliced, slice 1 inch from the bottom, keeping slices intact. Place ham flat side down in the slow cooker.
  3. Pour brown sugar and orange mixture over the ham, except the reserved 1/2 cup.
  4. Spread the reserved glaze between the ham slices.
  5. Top the ham with the remaining 1/2 cup brown sugar and rub it in. Add orange slices on top.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours, as ham is pre-cooked and only needs heating and flavor melding.
  7. Lift the lid occasionally and ladle juices over the ham to keep it moist.
  8. Once done, slice the ham and serve.
  9. Store leftovers in an airtight container with the glaze.

Ensure the ham is properly sliced to absorb the flavors.
Avoid overcooking to prevent drying out the ham.
Use different citrus fruits for varied flavor if desired.
