- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 & ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 medium onion diced (omit for keto version)
- 1 c bell pepper seeded and diced
- 1 c white mushrooms sliced
- 1 28oz jar rao's marinara sauce
- 1 tb tomato paste
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- ½ c red wine optional (omit for keto version)
- fresh basil leaves – for garnish washed and dried
Instructions
- Place the chicken breasts at the bottom of the slow cooker. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Dice the onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms. Add the vegetables to the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Add the marinara sauce, tomato paste, dried basil, red pepper flakes, and the optional red wine. Stir to ensure the ingredients are well combined over the chicken.
- Set the slow cooker to low and cook for about 8 hours. If your cooker has a timer, set it accordingly or keep track of the time.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
For a keto-friendly version, omit the onion and red wine.
