- 2/3 cup pineapple juice
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar packed
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 1-2 drops red gel food coloring optional
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients except the food coloring in a medium saucepan and whisk until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
- Heat the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until it reaches a light boil.
- Continue stirring until the sauce thickens, adjusting sugar and tanginess as needed. For a deeper color, add food coloring.
- Once thickened, remove the sauce from heat when it coats the back of a spoon.
- Allow to cool before serving.
Notes
For an extra touch, feel free to adjust the sweetness by adding more sugar to taste.
This sauce can be used with grilled chicken, fish, or as a dipping sauce for appetizers.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
